I just wanted to mark #WorldCancerDay tomorrow wit I just wanted to mark #WorldCancerDay tomorrow with this photo from 10 yrs ago, taken shortly after ending my treatment for #breastcancer. I always wore a wig out and about and when I first went back on air, and I’ve never shown this picture before, but I just wanted to say thank you to @CR_UK who are developing new treatments every day which save so many lives 🙏🙏 Back then I was put on #herceptin, at the time a relatively new drug, but a game changer for people with my type of Her2 positive cancer - an aggressive, fast growing form. It stops the fast growth by creating a bond around the cancer cells. Since then many new treatments have come out, thanks to all the research into all types of cancer. I know that not everyone is lucky to come through, and over the last few years I’ve lost several dear friends, but I hope this post helps anyone who is going through what I did in 2012 and gives them hope. One day it won’t be the first thing you think about every day - I promise. 😊Things are improving so much in cancer treatments. Btw I wore the @scalpcooling cold cap (developed by Paxman in Huddersfield 👏) during chemo, which saved some, but not all, of my hair.. you can see the new fuzz growing back underneath here! When I’m asked for advice on BC I’m often asked about hair - it will come back ❤️

It’s been a year of big changes in my life and for many close to me there were difficult changes and losses too, so here’s to embracing life and exciting adventures in the year ahead🥂. My friend Mandy @charitymrst who was awarded an MBE posthumously in the #newyearhonours today (see my stories) wanted us all to grasp life and opportunities to the full every day and her #BemoreMandy campaign was all about that. We’ll be saying a final goodbye to my beautiful, We’ll be saying a final goodbye to my beautiful, vibrant, brave friend Mandy @charitymrst today, a day we believed would be a long way away when we er “sang” along to @merrilldosmond_official_ here just last August at the Osmond Hearing Fund charity gala. Mandy put up with my awful caterwauling (honest we were both sober!) and then told me that she was expecting some bad scan results. She was facing such worry but smiled through it all night. We never thought we would lose this amazing woman so soon. All my love to Andrew and Mandy’s family. We’ll be there to support you tomorrow. Love you Mandy -.Night night lovely girl xx #bemoremandy
